BIOGRAPHY

Floyd was born in 1906 to, Willie Annie Martin . He passed away about 1941.

Apparently, Uncle Floyd Marmon's talent went off into singing business. He performed with The Delta Rhythm Boys (Gimmie Some Skin My Friend) and Uncle Floyd apparently wrote half of the lyrics but never continued it. It was given to possibly Elmaurice Miller whom was a close friend or Mr. Holland.

Uncle Floyd only performed with (The Four Vagabonds) he performed with them 1933 before his death.

It was told He did perform at the Cotton Club.

He did perform with Cab Calloway and was apart of Cab Calloway and his Orchestra.

Floyd Henry Marmon was born to Willie George Marmon in Mississippi and Ann Harris.

Uncle Flo was born April 17, 1906. he was the last of 9 children. and he was named as the (outside kid). he was bullied mostly by his older siblings besides Felix Harvest Williams (his half-brother), Edward R Williams (half brother) and his sister Lee Ethel Williams (Half-Sister) .

Uncle Flo did not speak much to his siblings anyways besides his two brothers that are listed at above.

Uncle Flo once told Grandma Ann (his mom) that he never will and never wanted to have kids.

Uncle Flo had left Mississippi to relocate to Winston Salem-Forsyth, North Carolina with a relative. and he lived there as a lodger. He also lived in New York for a while being a young baker.

Uncle Flo worked with Cab Calloway between 1930-1932 as a trombone player in Cab's band or a trumpet player. He performed live 3 times and Never performed again.

On January of 1927, he met the woman he loved, Viola Beatrix Hairston born 1908. They moved to 1005 Locust Avenue where Viola's parents, Dora Parks and Charles (stepfather) Lived.

Viola and Uncle Flo loved each other so much that he wanted to marry Viola B Hairston. So they got married June 1, 1927 in Vance County, North Carolina and the witnesses were: Dora Parks (Hairston), Louis Hairston, Willie Ann Harris and Willie George Marmon.

Viola was 19 and Floyd was 21 years old. When Viola became pregnant with Florez at only 19, Uncle Floyd never told his siblings he had a child until aunt Lee Ethel saw that Floyd's daughter was performing on Television as Flores Marmon.

Aunt Lee Ethel tried to reach out to find her niece but could not find any contact information.

Lee Ethel's words were very simple.

"He did not enjoy the life he had"....... "And most of it was 100% Regrets".

She then stated how he was designated to sing with "Delta Rhythm Boys" he made his first appearance with the group before they became popular.

He even had the chance to be apart of the film (St. Louis Blues) ft: Bessie Smith
