William Charles Chapman, age 72, of Dayton, Texas passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, in Rockwall, Texas. William (Bill) was born to Paul E. Chapman and Mary Helen (Crane) Chapman.
William was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two brothers and two sisters, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. Paul and Carla Chapman of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Sally and David Heineke (full time RVers); Stephen and Elizabeth Chapman of Miami, FL; and Helen A. Curry of Weslaco, Texas. He will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
William grew up in Dickinson, Texas where he was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Dickinson schools. Living a non-traditional life, he resided for several years in both Mexico and Belize, Central America. Later, his interest in medicine moved him to earn a pre-med degree from the University of Texas in Tyler followed by Medical school in Miami, Florida.
William's love of the ocean often drew him back to Galveston and Miami where he both owned various boats and plied various occupations at sea. Because of this love his memorial will be held on the Bolivar peninsula at the pavilion within historic Fort Travis, at 11 am, on February 21st, 2023. Friends and family are invited to attend. Afterwards William's ashes will be scattered across the peninsula in the Intracoastal Waterway.
