Born in Polk County North Carolina, Dad was one of ten children. His family moved to Spartanburg County South Carolina during the 1930's. He met Mom at church and married her in 1948. They began their family in 1949 with the first of their eleven children, eight sons and three daughters. Dad was a textile worker at Inman Mills and later a cab driver in Spartanburg. He wanted to go to the mission fields, but it wasn't to be. Descended through a long line of preachers Dad ministered in his everyday life.
