Ruth Elizabeth Jones, age 9, finished her race sooner than any of us expected on July 22, 2021. A rising 4th grader at her beloved Columbus Academy, Ruth was a 21st century "renaissance girl" who refused to waste any part of any day. Ruth loved her church, her family, and her country. She was founding Senior Partner of Ruth's Produce, a guitarist, a drummer, lover of classic rock and 80s music, organic chocolate milk, Shirky's Pizza, Schaffner's ice cream, and "County Boy." She was a talented artist, champion cicada swatter, and yellow perch catcher, who dreamt of being the first female major league baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds. Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing her infectiously ornery sense of humor. Ruth is sharing in the Victory with her Great-Grandparents, James A. Jones, Sr. and Nina L. Jones, Martin B. McCleery, William Hecox, Ruth Armstrong Hecox, Boyd M. Solt, and Virginia Boley, and Grandmother Lynne Solt. Ruth is survived by her parents, Elizabeth and Ben Jones; her Grandparents, Jerry "G-Pa" Solt, James A. Jones, Jr. and Winifred Jo Jones; Great-Grandmother, Cathleen W. McCleery; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A celebration of Ruth's life will be scheduled when Elizabeth is able to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ruth's honor to Lithopolis United Methodist Church, PO Box 42, Lithopolis, OH 43136, or The Wagnalls Memorial Library, 150 East Columbus Street, Lithopolis, OH 43136, Attn: Tami Morehart, Executive Director.
