PFC Leonard E. Adams, age 25, a courageous, selfless, individual, was born on Saturday, January 3, 1920, and sadly passed away on Sunday, January 21, 1945, in the vicinity of Reipertswiller, France while fighting for his country during World War II.

In the early years of World War II, Leonard joined the U.S. Army and became a member of the 3rd Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment. As a Private First Class, he bravely served his country and fought against German forces near Reipertswiller, France. Tragically, Leonard was reported missing in action on January 21, 1945, but was never reported as a prisoner of war. It was later determined that he was killed in action, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country and the freedom of others.

Seventy-eight years after his death, Leonard's remains have been found and positively identified through DNA testing. This discovery brings closure to a long and difficult journey for those who have sought answers about Leonard's fate. It also allows this remarkable man to receive the respect and gratitude he so rightfully deserves.
