Obituary
Voris Stingel, 90, of Sugarcreek, passed on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
He was born in Auburn Twp. on July 23, 1932 to the late John H. and Gladys E. (Lenhart) Stingel and married Donna Y. Brown on August 28, 1953. She survives.
He graduated from Sugarcreek Shanesville High School in 1951. He was a floor covering mechanic and retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Homer Weiss American Post and the First United Church of Christ, both in Sugarcreek.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by his children Debra (Brian) Murray, Sherrell (Wayne) Crilow, Michael (Diana) Stingel and Jon (Joyce) Stingel; his grandchildren, Laura (Jeff) Hullinger, Ian (Suzanne) Murray, Tara Stingel, Brooks (Angela) Stingel, Karen (Rob) Edwards, Carol (Tyler) Renner, Chase (Kristen) Stingel, Maria (Matt) Miller, Elaine (Alex) Hall, Jon P. Stingel. and Ellen (Jake) Rhinehart; great grandchildren, Colton, Avery, Bryson, Annabelle, Alex, Kannon, Kennity, Gauge, Brynn, Madeline, Parker, Alaina, Anderson, Emma, Isaiah, Trent, Bryson, Harper, and the newest arrival due in October; his sister, Aletha Riedesel; and brothers, John Clyde (Judy) Stingel and Charles (Sue) Stingel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Terri; great grandson, Talon; sisters, Mary (Wilson) Griggs and Miriam Miller; and brothers-in-law Ray Riedesel, Lowell Wilson, C.N. Griggs and Donald Miller.
In honoring his life, the family will gather for a private burial with Pastor Earl Rogers leading the Celebration of Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa's Life. Memorial contributions may be made in Voris's Honor to the First United Church of Christ, 526 W. Main Street, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
