Betty E. Thompson 76, of New Boston, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

She was born April 7, 1931, in New Boston, a daughter of the late James and Kathleen Copeland Payton. She was a retired manager with Bank of America in North Highlands, California, where she and her husband lived for many years.

Betty is survived by two brothers, Roger D. Payton of Louisa, Va., and David Payton and wife, Velma, of New Boston; and two sisters, Carol M. Hurst and husband, James, of Cincinnati, and Linda S. Brown of New Boston, and her step-daughter Karen Lynne Thompson of Glendale, CA. She had no children.

She also was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jack Dean Thompson of Laurelville, Ohio, whose ashes will be placed in the grave with her; an infant sister, Anna Louise Payton; and two infant brothers, James William Payton and Larry Arland Payton.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Howard Pruitt officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston.
