Lucille was born June 6, 1922 in Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of John Middleton Berkley Nash and Eva Candis Wilson of Durham, North Carolina.

She graduated from Bragtown High School in 1939 and attended Durham Business College in Durham, North Carolina.

On December 7, 1945 she married Henry Orval Tietjens in Durham, North Carolina.

Lucille was a member of the Carrollton First Baptist Church and was a member of the Carrollton Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 Ladies Auxiliary.
