Brad Morris former Circleville Sports Editor and co-founder of the Sporting Pumpkin digital website passed away September 2, 2023 of natural causes. He was born June 19, 1983 the son of George and Sandy Morris in Circleville. Brad had passionately covered Pickaway County and Amanda-Clearcreek High School sports for two decades. In 2019, Brad was awarded best Sports Writer by the Associated Press as Sports Editor for The Circleville Herald. Brad was also a finalist in previous years in three different categories. Brad graduated from Logan Elm in 2002 and then OSU majoring in journalism. He had a undeniable passion for the youth of Pickaway County. He had turned down career opportunities to fulfill his dreams and also the dreams of current and previous high school athletes. He loved Logan Elm deeply and had written articles to educate our community for the need of new schools in the district. Last week he saw his wish come true as Logan Elm celebrated the opening of their new facility. Brad is survived by his parents George and Sandy Morris of Circleville as well as his cherished sister Ashley (Chris) Vanderpool and his two special nieces; Ella and Sophia Vanderpool. He is also survived by his grandmother; Eleanor Young, who he loved so dearly. He also is survived by several uncles, aunts and cousins as well; Brad's special friends and co-workers John Howley and Cody Leist who were also there for him. There are so many others as well as area coaches and administration that Brad enjoyed many conversations with over the years. Brad's sponsors of Sporting Pumpkin and community friends Shane Roese of Roese Paving, Health Care Logistics, Ink My Logo, Kingston National Bank, Leist Mercantile, Anderson Insurance Group, Rhoads Garden Center and the local YMCA who provided Brad the financial support to launch the Sporting Pumpkin website. Nutter Excavating and Atomic Credit Union are the most recent sponsors of Sporting Pumpkin. He greatly appreciated all of them! In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to any of the athletic boosters of the county schools that he covered. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
