David Wayne Abbott Sr., age 80, of London, Kentucky passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Elaine Kennedy Abbott; three children, Denise Abbott Kirby, David Wayne Abbott Jr. & wife Selena, Mark Abbott & wife Amy, all of London, KY; one sister, Sharon Joyce Keen of Sunbright, TN; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Nicole Elligson, Jacob Michael Kirby, Aaron Christopher Kirby, Emily Sierra Abbott, Brandon Blaise Abbott, Alexandra Elaine Abbott, Luke Christopher Abbott; two great grandchildren, Blaze Dean Abbott, Walker Robert Grant Owens; plus, a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl E. Abbott & Edna Christine Reese Abbott.
David was co-owner of London Church Furniture where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in London, Kentucky. He was a marathon runner, and was a drum major in high school. David loved only one woman his whole life, his beloved Mary, for whom his last thoughts were making sure her needs were met.
Funeral services for David Wayne Abbott Sr. will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Bro. Larry O'Bryan and Bro. Joe Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 5, 2023 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
