Mary L. Gullett, 94, of Flatwoods, passed away October 5, 2023, in Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Greenup County, Kentucky.

Mrs. Gullet was born February 1, 1929, in Hueysville, Floyd County, Kentucky, as the youngest daughter of the late James "Jim" and Susannah "Maudie" Hale Layne. She was the paternal Granddaughter of the late Elbert S. "Cap" & Alice Frasure Layne, and the maternal Granddaughter of Sam & Jane Allen Hale.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Gullett; one son, William Gullett; along with eight siblings; Sam Layne, Jim Layne, Leland Layne, Elbert Layne, Polly Layne Hicks, Cordilla Layne Conley, Julie Layne Martin, and Yolanda Layne.

Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, Russell, where she was active for many years. She retired from the Fairview School Systems as a teacher and was a member of the retired teacher's organization. She was also a member of the local Homemakers Club and in her younger years, she enjoyed working in her garden and crocheting.

She is survived by one son, two daughters in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
