Death takes Dr. Mosher. SJS educator
Dr. Raymond Mylar Mosher, retired San Jose State College administrator, a native of Palo Alto, died yesterday at his home, 505 8. 16th 8t., San Jose, after a long Illness. He was 62.

Dr. Mosher, who rose from Instructor to college president during his 35 years in education, retired in December, 1954. from San Jose State after 30 years' association as teacher, department head and administrator.

HE WAS BORN in Palo Alto and was graduated from Palo Alto schools. He received his A.B. from Stanford University.

At San Jose State Dr. Mosher lectured in psychology, becoming department head In 1931. In 1948 President Thomas W. MacQuarrle named Dr. Mosher first head of the college summer session.

When San Jose State's administrative setup was reorganized in 1950 Dr. Mosher became dean of educational services and head of the summer session.

In 1953 he was granted a year's leave of absence to serve as Interim president of Eastern Washington College of Education, Cheney, Wash. He returned to San Jose State as administrative assistant until his retirement.

SURVIVORS include his widow, Marie Aline; three sons, Capt John F. Mosher, USAF; James R. and Raymond M. Mosher Jr., both of San Jose; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine E. Morancy of Laconia, N.H.; two brothers, Harold C. Mosher of Kentfield and Charles R. Mosher. of San Rafael, and six grandchildren. The rosary will be recited tonight at 8:15 at the W. B. Ward Company, San Jose. Services will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at W. B. Ward Company and requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick's Church. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Raymond Mosher

Raymond Mylar Mosher 62 retired educator who founded the music department at Santa Barbara (State) College in 1919, died in in San Jose yesterday. Funeral services will be conducted there tomorrow.

Mr. Mosher was born May 9, 1894 in Palo Alto. He attended Stanford University where he received his BA in 1919 and his master's degree in 1923. He received his PhD at Columbia in 1926.

Mr. Mosher taught in both the music and education departments at Santa Barbara College where he remained until 1922. From 1924-28 he was the director of the training school at New Haven State Teachers College and lectured in psychology at Yale University from 1925-28.

Mr. Mosher was director of Student personnel at the University of Idaho and also professor of psychology from 1928-31, at which time he became head of the department of psychology at San Jose State College. He retired last year. He lived at 505 S. 16th St., San Jose.

He married Marie Aline Hall June 17 1922. He is survived by his wife: three sons and a daughter.
