On Sunday, December 31, 2023, Emily Michele DeArdo, 41, went to be with our Lord. Emily was born on Good Friday, April 9, 1982, in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Pickerington High School Class of 2000 and Capital University in 2004 with a B.A. in Political Science and English Literature. She was a lector at St. Matthew Church, an author, loved to knit, read, sketch, and sing, but above all, Emily was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith.
She was the beloved daughter of Carmen and Michele, cherished sister of Bryan (Sarah) and Melanie (Jason) McDonald, granddaughter of Patricia Heilmann, loving Auntie Em to Madeleine McDonald and Hailey DeArdo, and proud Godmother to Ryan Zimba and Patty Bramanti. Emily also leaves behind many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation for Emily will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Columbus, OH 43230. Funeral Mass for Emily will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road, Gahanna, OH 43230.
Emily was the first recipient of a double lung transplant at Nationwide Children's Hospital in 2005 and was a strong proponent of organ donation.
To celebrate Emily, the DeArdo family suggests contributions to support the Pulmonary Department at Nationwide Children's Hospital in support of Cystic Fibrosis.
