SEPTEMBER 23, 1952 – JUNE 9, 2023

Rodney Allen Gray, 70 years, peacefully passed away at his home on June 9, 2023 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born September 23, 1952 to Jesse Ralston Gray and Althea Jensen Gray in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rod grew up in the valley and attended Highland High School. He later attended and graduated from the University of Utah in 1971. After college, He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1975 to 1977 in Washington DC.

After his mission, Rod married Suzanne Thomas Gray and raised their family in the area. Together they had 4 children. Later Suzanne and Rod divorced. Rod met Susan L. Ostler and their relationship grew over the years and they were married on October 22, 2021 in Farmington, Utah. Rodney worked as a paralegal for many years; specifically for Randall Meek and Nathan and Joseph Jardine. He was a dedicated employee.

Rod struggled with health challenges and addiction periodically throughout his life. He was hospitalized as a result of his health issues and spent a short time in a nursing home. Towards the end he was diagnosed with a blood clot and a mass in his left lung. Doctors indicated that he would not survive treatments. As his health declined, Rodney chose to go on hospice. Through it all he never lost his sense of humor.

Rod is survived by his wife, Susan L. Ostler-Gray; 4 loving children; 3 grandchildren; sister, Janine Gray Radley; nieces, nephews, and his ex-wife, Suzanne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Ralston Gray and Althea Jensen Gray.

Graveside services will be Friday, June 16, 2023, 2:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.utahfamilyfuneralcare.com
