Marilyn Ayers Jaspers

March 19, 1933 – May 3, 2023

Marilyn Jeanine Ayers Jaspers of Lake Oswego OR died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence (Larry) Jaspers in 2017. She leaves a sister, Beverly Ayers-Nachamki; four daughters, Cathy Trueb, Christi Piche, Cheryl Jaspers and Laurie Crabtree; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was born on March 19, 1933 in Portland OR to Beatrice and Edward Ayers. She attended Rose City Elementary and then Beaumont Elementary and Grant High School where she met and dated Larry throughout their high school years. After high school graduation, Marilyn completed the Providence Hospital School of Nursing while Larry spent two years in the Coast Guard. She worked briefly as an RN before marrying Larry in April of 1954 and having their first of 4 daughters.

Marilyn was a stay-at-home mom while raising her daughters, and she and Larry enjoyed picnics with water-skiing, vacations to the Oregon Coast and bowling in a bowling league. Family was always the number one priority with Marilyn and Larry and holidays were spent with grandparents and cousins.

In the early 1970's, Marilyn completed a nursing refresher course at Mount Hood Community College and began working as an RN at OHSU where she worked until her retirement. Even while working, Marilyn continued to support her daughters - and eventually her grandchildren - in all their school, church, music and sports activities.

Marilyn lived a full and exemplary life. She was a role model for all of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy lives on in all of us who are lucky enough to be her family.
