Presley was Postmaster and Justice of the Peace for Swinton Missouri. He served on Union side Regiment Ohio 2nd Regiment Ohio Calvary Company M. His wife Ida is buried in Swinton at Liberty Hill Cemetery.Presley Lane Davis was born Oct 5, 1848 TO Alfred Davis and Julia Ann Lane.He was the oldest of four children...he was born in Cincinnati Ohio but lived there only a short time he was raised in Brown Co Ohio and Maysville Kentucky.

Presley's mother Julia died in 1860 when he was only 11 years old. Presley and his younger brothers George and Charlie stayed with their father but the baby Oliver went to live with their Uncle Groves Lane and his wife Nancy in Brown co Ohio.

The civil war broke out Presley enlisted in Nov 1862 he was only 14 years old he was in Co M 2nd Ohio Calvary. He was discharged in Sept 1865.

After the war he went to Fleming Co Kentucky where he married Mary Alice Marks on Apr 7, 1867. Together they had 10 children
Emma, Minnie Mary Lucy, Laura, Julia, Ella, Otto, Addie, Carry
and Chesley . They moved to Hamilton Co Illinois around 1880 and later moved to Stoddard Co Missouri. Mary Alice passed away in 1898. He remarried Aug 15,1904 to Ida Gertrude Prentiss Giles they had 4 children Gladys May, Moy Wray , Ina Jewel and Flossie Delina
Flossie is my paternal grandmother Presley was 64 years old when she was born.

He settled with his family in a small community called Swinton Missouri he was the Justice of the Peace and also the Postmaster. Presley died Dec 19, 1936 of Pneumonia at the home of his Daughter Laura Welker in Chaffee Mo
