John Middleton Norwood was born Jan. 7, 1784 in Abbeville Dist., South Carolina, the son of Theophilus & Eleanor "Middleton" Norwood. He died Oct. 11, 1860 in Bellefontaine, Choctaw Co., Mississippi. He was buried at the Norwood Cemetery, his wife was Elizabeth McMullen, or Smith. She was born abt. 1791, and died aft. 1870 in Choctaw Co., Miss.! She was probably buried next to John, at the Norwood Cemetery. John & Elizabeth were living at Bellefontaine, Ms. in 1860, they had a Mariah H. Lamb, born abt. 1856. Mariah may have been a Granddaughter! John & Elizabeth had one known son ; Theophilus Norwood, born abt. 1809 in South Carolina, and died Mar. 22, 1870 in Choctaw Co., Miss.! He first married Sarah Brown Sept. 10, 1828 in Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama, they had 9 children. Sarah "Brown" Norwood died abt. 1858 - 1863. Theophilus married second to Francis Marion Greenlee Jan. 1, 1863 in Choctaw Co., Miss.! They had 3 known children, Walter Middleton, Arona Clarence, & Martha Belle "Norwood" Latham. All three of these children were buried at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, in Webster Co., Miss.
