James Thomas Rush,familiarly known by his many friends as Jim Tom passed away at the Monroe County War Memorial Hospital Friday-December 10,1976,at the age of 50. For the past 20 years Mr Rush had been co-owner and operator of Rush and Atkinson Grocery Store in Tompkinsville. His partner having been his brother-in-law Guy Wood Atkinson-who passed away on Oct. 3, 1976.

He was a former coach and teacher in the Barren County School system for five years. He was the son of the late Raymond Rush,who survives. Besides his mother, Mr Rush is survived by his widow, Mrs Peggy(Foster) Rush;one daughter,Miss Ann Rush;one son,Scott Rush,both at home.a sister is Mrs. Ila Dane Atkinson. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Tompkinsville Church of Christ of which he was a member, by Bro. Douglas Foster. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Strode Funeral Home in charge.
