John Mohler was born on Feb. 17, 1790 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the son of Solomon and Marie Ann (Trout) Mohler.
On Christmas day, 1816, he married Elizabeth Overmier, the daughter John Peter and Mary Eva (Hennig) Obermeier. They had 11 children.
John died at the age of 61 on Dec. 6, 1851, in Liberty Center, Henry County, Ohio. He was the first person to be buried in what became the Mohler-Union Cemetery, which bears his name.
