EVANS, Ga. - Cleve Edmunds, loving and cherished husband of Maxanne Edenfield Edmunds, entered into heaven on September 8, 2008. A memorial service will be held at Warren Baptist Church on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Frank Page officiating. Mr. Edmunds was the owner of Cleve Edmunds Bar-B-Que, having taken over the business from his father over forty years ago. During those years, he enjoyed the friendship of countless people whose lives he touched with his interest in and love for them. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving brother, treasured family leader, faithful friend, generous boss, and committed servant of his Lord. He previously served as an Aiken County Commissioner and in several capacities with the Jaycees. He was a member of West Lake Country Club, where he was currently serving on the house committee. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he used his talents to help raise funds needed to bring the good news of Christ to young people in sports. He loved Warren Baptist Church, where he served for many years as an usher, a job for which the Lord uniquely equipped him. Preceded in death by his parents Alva and Barrett Edmunds and his step-daughter Donna Thrift, he is survived by a family who greatly respected and revered him. Survivors include his wife Maxanne, his sister Faye Edmunds, his step-son Stephan Allmond (Traci), his grandchildren Alexandra and Abigail Allmond, his sister-in-law Nan Brooks (Carl), his aunt Myrtle Lott, his niece Jana Jordan (Chad), nephew Taylor Brooks (Lauri Ann) and many dear cousins. Mr. Edmunds regarded his past and present employees as family and requested that they sit with the family. If so desired, memorials may be made to Warren Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, both located at 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 11, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. condolences at www.plattsfuneralhome.
