Mark L. Shell aka Marquis Lathoete Shell died at 0400 at the home of his son Bernie Shell, 3 miles E of Mt. Vernon. He was 83 yrs, 7 mo. & 29 days old. He was a farmer all his life. He was born @ homestead South of Keenes (Wayne Co.), IL.

Mark was the son of Calvin & Sarah Elizabeth Anderson Shell. He was married to Annie Hank Gant (born 24 Aug 1889) in 1879 & they had 4 children: Callie, Garfield, Perlie, & Bertha Harvey / Priest.

His second wife was Ellen Kitturie Terry Morgan (my ggma) & they had 6 children: Bessie, Junie (Bert) Lane, Nellie (Ross) Smith, Bernie (Beatrice), Floyd (Verda), & Flora (never married). Ellen died in 1908.

He then married Corda Talbert & they had 3 children: Esther Favors, Roy, & Raymond D. (they lived in Muncie Indiana).

His obituary says his father was Captain Calvin Shell...though his father served in the Civil War - he was never made a Captain. See Calvin Shell memorial.
