Orville D. Hergert, 90, of Jonesville, Michigan, passed away August 27, 2008 at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.
He was born August 18, 1918 in Shepley, Wisconsin to Jesse and Kate (Long) Hergert.
He was married May 14, 1949 to Dorotha Larder and she survived him.
Orville was a 1939 graduate of Jonesville High School and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, having served during WWII, at Pearl Harbor and in Korea.
He was a lifelong farmer and worked at Jackson Prison as a corrections officer for 10 years. Orville loved animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.
Surviving besides his wife Dorotha, were two daughters, Linda (Lawrence) Barr of Jonesville, Brenda (Byron) Youtsey of Manitou Beach; two sons, Dwight (Tisha) Hergert of Jonesville, John Hergert of Galva, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Kate Barr, Jesse Youtsey, Eric, Adam, Karleen and Harry Hergert, Clara Beaver, Robert, Maxwell, and Dwight Hergert, Ben Wolf; a great-grandson Trevor Beaver and several nieces and nephews.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
