Sharon Croley, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, in Carthage, Mo.

She was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Carthage. She was the daughter of Glenn Clinton and Edna Kirby Croley. She attended Carthage schools, graduating from Carthage High School in 1960. She attended a year at Joplin Junior College (MSSU) and a year at UMKC. Through her high school years, she studied voice with Lorraine Hammons Riley of Joplin, and while attending Kansas City University, she studied with Joseph Victor Lauderoute at the Conservatory of Music, Kansas City, Mo. While in Kansas City, she was in numerous vocal circles and was a soloist at St. John's Methodist Church.

She moved to Boston, Mass, in 1962, and was employed in the trust division of Shawmut Bank, Boston. During her time there, she gave many solo programs for bank functions and other engagements. She was also a soloist at Old West Church. During her last year in Boston, she was selected to be the United Way Torch Girl during that campaign year for public appearances in the city.

After several years in Boston, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she was employed in the correspondent banking department of Republic Bank; later at Dallas Trade Mart for several years. She was also a member of the Dallas Civic Chorus, Inc. under the fine direction of Dr. Lloyd Pfautsch.

She returned to Carthage in 1973, and was employed by her mother in the fine gifts and decorative accessory business known as the Old Shingled House. In 1984 to 1995, she was employed by H.E. Williams, later she was employed in 1996, by Fair Acres Family YMCA as their membership director and later in their business office. She served on the Red Cross Board and was a member of the Mimosa Garden Club, Friends of the Phelps House, and the McCune-Brooks Auxiliary. She was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church where she served on the vestry and was a long-time member of St. Gregory's Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Patricia Croley Tatum. She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Croley Bremer, Brookline, NH. Other survivors include, Rolf Bremer and Lee Tatum, brothers-in-law; three nieces, Kristine Bremer, Winchester, Mass, Mary Tatum, Manitou, Springs, Colo, and Kari Bremer, Santa Fe, NM; four nephews, Richard Tatum, New York City, Rolf C. Bremer, Portsmouth, NH, John Bremer, Portsmouth, and Glenn Bremer, Portsmouth; great-nieces, Julia Beebe, Kathleen and Randy Kirk, India, and Savannah Bremer; great-nephew, Glen Tatum; and many wonderful family and friends.

The body has been cremated. Services will be at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 am with the Rev. Steven C. Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, the Carthage Public Library or the Fair Acres Family YMCA in care of the Knell Mortuary.
