Laura C. Terwilliger Young, 78, of Allegheny Township, Parker, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Friday afternoon at UPMC Northwest at Seneca following an extended illness.

Born in West Freedom, Clarion County, May 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Hazel Wilson Terwilliger.

She was a graduate of the former Parker High School.

A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she was an active member of the Argentine United Methodist Church in northern Butler County until the facility closed. While at the church, she served for years as treasurer and Sunday school teacher.

At the time of her passing, she had completed an earthly journey as a born-again Christian and was a dedicated affiliate of the Church of God of Prophecy at Six Points, near Eau Claire. One of her favorite pastimes was to sit on her porch swing reading and memorizing her Holy Bible.

Laura served three terms as tax collector of Allegheny Township, Butler County.

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Marie Eaker and husband, Rene, of Sligo; two sons, Floyd and Larry Young, both at home; god-daughter, Becky Froman of Waller, Texas; a grandson, Jeremih Eaker; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Terwilliger of Perryville; three sisters, Mrs. Jim (Donna) Stoops of Franklin, Mrs. Thomas (Joy) Huff of Chicora and Mrs. Glenn (Fay) Hindman of Harrisville; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Young whom she married March 10, 1951. He passed away Dec. 30, 2000.
