Irene Wilhoit, 83, of Harrison Road, Greeneville, died Saturday at her home surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Wilhoit was a homemaker and the widow of Cloyd Wilhoit, her husband of 55 years who died Oct. 15, 2002.

She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness (Bethesda Community) Church.

Her family stated, "She was a loving and kind mother."

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Bobby Dean Wilhoit and David Terry and Lois Wilhoit, all of Greene County; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Brenda and Kenneth Henry of Columbus, Ohio, and Charlotte Bowers, Linda and Steve Luttrell, and Darcy Wilhoit, all of Greene County; her grandchildren: Melissa Stalter of Ohio, and Bobby Wilhoit Jr., Tonya Ottinger, Rebecca Bowers, Stacey Miguel, Linda Owens, David Allen Wilhoit, and Matthew Luttrell, all of Greene County; her great-grandchildren: Chelsea Ottinger, Melody Ottinger, Amber Wilhoit, Ashley Wilhoit, Angela Owens, A.J. Wilhoit, and Candice Wilhoit, all of Greene County, and Brandon Stalter of Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law: Anna Mae and David Pesut of Greene County; a brother and three sisters-in-law: Rufus and Alice Lafollette and Mabel Lafollette, all of Greene County, and Dorothy Lafollette of Maryland; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends: Juanita Wills and Lunelle Collins.

She was a daughter of the late Grover and Lula Mae Looney Lafollette and was preceded in death by a grandson: Jeremy Grant
Luttrell; and seven brothers: Lawrence Lafollette, Clark Lafollette, William "Bill" Lafollette, James Lafollette; and three infants.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock
Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Jersey and Chaplain Don Lederer will officiate.

Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Bobby Wilhoit Jr., David Allen Wilhoit, Shawn Ottinger, Matthew Luttrell, Steve Harrison, and Bobby Wilhoit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Harrison, Clinton Harrison, Dr. Robert Locklear, Dr. Kenneth Susong, the staff of Adventa Hospice, and John Runion.
