Hiram Rix entered service in Co. D,6th Michigan Cavalry in Oct.1862.He went missing in action at Boonsboro,Maryland on July 8,1863,but returned to his unit.He was promoted to Corporal in June,1864,Sergeant in Nov.,1864,then Quartermaster Serg.,Sept.,1865.He was mustered out on Nov.24,1865 at Fort Leavenworth Kansas .He lived in Leroy,Michigan after the war.In 1871,he married Bettie Neal and they had 9 children.He was a member of GAR Post 93.
