Born July 30, 1926, on the family farm near Harper, Iowa, the daughter of Peter J. and Pearl Sondag Adam. She married Eugene Reed on Nov. 6, 1945 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at Harper.
She worked all of her life as a nurses' aide starting at the Keokuk County Hospital and Manor House. Later in her career she worked at central supply at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Her last job was as an aide in sterilization and the surgical unit at the Jefferson County Hospital until May 2008.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Eugene; her children, Tom (Linda) Reed of Athens, Ga., Dick (Kathy) Reed of Hedrick, Iowa, Deborah (Jack) Hammes and Becky (Steve) Greiner of Richland, Iowa, Tena (Nick) Adam and Mary Jo (Roger) Clingan of Batavia, Iowa, Harry (Annette) Reed of Riverside, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edith Warwick of Delta, Iowa, Verda Sieren of Keota, Verena Snakenburg of Sigourney and her brother Harry Joe Adam of Columbus Junction, Iowa.
Preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; three brothers and four sisters.Rosary followed by Scripture service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church with Father Stephen C. Page officiating.
Visitation to follow the Scripture service.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield with Father Stephen C. Page and Father Richard Adam officiating.
