Jesse James Lian, 21, of St. Hilaire, MN, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 as a result of an automobile accident.

Jesse James Lian was born October 15, 1986 in Burbank, CA the son of Richard and Kim (Miller) Lian. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in Burbank, CA and at the age of 4 years old he moved with his family to St. Hilaire, MN.

He attended Mark Twain Elementary, Challenger Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School all in Thief River Falls, MN. While in high school, he was a member of the Concert Choir and enjoyed performing in any of the choir productions which took them to New York and Minneapolis. He also enjoyed a trip to Costa Rica with Spanish Class. Jesse graduated Lincoln High School in 2004. While Jesse enjoyed traveling, he was most comfortable with the small town life in St. Hilaire and Thief River Falls, MN.

Jesse enjoyed working construction with his Dad, Rick in the summer. He performed in several Big Al's Theatre Productions at the Eagle's in Thief River Falls, MN and he worked at the Rusty Nail in Thief River Falls for 3 years. In High School he was a member of the football and baseball team and was an avid bowler, which took him to the bowling state finals several times.

Music was Jesse's life, he loved playing and writing music. His acoustic guitar was his best friend. Most recently he played the bass guitar with his band, "Our Only Solace" which has played at numerous venues throughout North Dakota and Minnesota.

Survivors include his mother, Kimmer (Kirk) Benke of Clarksville, TN; father, Richard "Rick" Lian of Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Cassidy (Jeff Vennes) Lian of St. Hilaire; brother, Joshua Huth of Thief River Falls; great grandfather, Ivan Schiele of Towner, ND; grandparents, Erling and Mary Lian of Thief River Falls and Della James of Tiro, OH; godfather, Norm Huth of Goodridge; step-sisters, Amy (Shaun Brandt) Thode of Thief River Falls and Valerie Thode of Roseau; step-brother, Brian Thode of Red Lake Falls; nephews, Brody Vennes and Dylan Brandt; the two special women in his life, Ashley Ramos and Alisha Spilde; cousin, Toni Williams and numerous other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by grandfathers, Richard Miller and Ron James; and step-father, Lonnie Thode.
