Funeral service for Robert Lee Comte, 77, of Colmesneil, Texas, was held September 27, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Standley and Brother Jerry Peck officiating. Burial followed at Bethany Cemetery near Colmesneil. Visitation was held Wednesday evening.

Mr. Comte passed away September 25, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Mr. Comte was born April 2, 1924 in Colmesneil. He is the son of Willie Eugene and Nancy Lou McKee (Comte) Crosby. He was a retired forester with the Texas Forestry Service. He was a member of Katy Baptist Church and he was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nowlin Comte; son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Dorothy Comte of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Mitch Curtis of Palestine, Peggy and Ellis Gibbs of Colmesneil, Glenda and Rocky Ard of Spurger, Brenda and Jerry Peck of Fred, and Linda and Francis Johnson of Woodville; brother and sister-in-law, Bailey and Pauline Crosby of Jasper; nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Comte's grandsons.

Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
