Garland H. Deel, 67, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008. He was born on September 7, 1941 in Grundy, VA to parents, John and Mary Deel. He moved to this area in 1961 from Grundy, VA and worked for Clay Products for 15 years. He then was co-owner of Sawyer-Deel Gas where he worked for 15 years and in 1991 he started AA Propane and worked there until his passing. He was an Ordained Minister with Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church as well as the Moderator and Treasurer. He was known for his garden and his passion for gardening and will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Edna F. Deel; children, Curtis J. Deel (Robin), Douglas James Deel (Janet) and Edmond Garland Deel; siblings, Flornie Deel, Kermit Deel, Martha Emojean Yates and Bessie Prior and grandchildren, Emily, Courtney, Corey, Joshua, Reagan and Jacob. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2008 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Terry Fuller, Albert Hamilton, Doug McCarty and Buddy Carty officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church.
