In addition to Joanne, his wife of more than 25 years, Dieter leaves his son, Mark D.P. (Paula); and grandchildren, Kirsten and Justin, of New Smyrna Beach; son, Michael K.P. (Jeannie) and grandchildren, Kris and Ronnie, Georgia; step-children, Scott (Dawn) Cope, Cierra and Ryan, Amy (Chip) Snowden, Chad, Liz, and Chris, all of Jacksonville, and Paul Cope, of Daytona Beach. He leaves his brother, Hasi (Chris) Zimmermann and niece, Simone; ister, Gitte (Ralph) Bebenitz, nieces, Gaby (Utz) Sternberg, Annika and Svenja, Traude Maas, Luebeck Germany; brother-in-law, Klaus Dieter (Gisi) Schneider, Johanna, Alexandra, Michaela, and Leonhard, Germany, nieces, Reet (Bosse) Uusman, Simon, and Ulrika (Christer) Skogback, Patrik and Camilla, both of Goteberg, Sweden, and his godmother, Trutchen Dennig, of Kiel. He recently traveled there and saw all of his relatives at the holiday time.
