Mrs. Myrle Crews Aycock, age 78, of Fort Meade, FL, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009, at her home, due to cancer. She was born January 30, 1931 in Gainesville, FL to the late Jackson & Emma Crews. She graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1949 and married Charles W. Aycock soon after; a marriage that lasted nearly 52 years. She retired from the Polk County Tax Collection Agency, after 12 years of dedicated service. Myrle was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade where she sang in the choir for 46 years, worked with the children of the church and reveled in decorating the church on special holidays. Myrle was an avid supporter of the First United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, FL. Always putting her family ahead of herself, she never tired of looking after and caring for both her immediate and extended family. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading; especially the Bible. In addition to her husband, survivors include two Sons, Dwayne & wife Suzanne Aycock of Lakeland and Dale Aycock of Bowling Green. One Sister, Mary Martin of Homeland and one Brother Earl Crews of Lakeland. Four Grandchildren Shona Tucker of Wauchula, Sharla & husband Joshua Adams of Fort Meade, Kyle and Amy Aycock of Lakeland, and Five Great Grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Funeral service will be at First United Methodist of Fort Meade at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2009 , Rev. Vincent Price officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Methodist Church of Fort Meade or Good Shepherd Hospice. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.McLeanfuneralhome.net
