Ruby Fay Smith

Our Loving Mom, Nannie, Sister and Aunt went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Wheelock Cemetery in Flo, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas.

Ruby Fay Smith was born in Hamlin, Texas on April 4, 1929 to Claude and Matilda Mullins. Ruby was one of 5 children. The family eventually relocated to Flo, Texas. Flo is where she met the love of her life, in the 5th grade, George L. Smith. They were married for 64 years until his passing in 2011.

Ruby worked at Candy Cane Nursery for many years and was affectionately known to many as, Ms. Ruby. She later became manager of Texas City High School Snack Bar 16 years, until her retirement. She served as a faithful secretary for the Nazarene church board until she moved back to the country. Ruby and George lived in Buffalo, Texas for 16 years until his illness, enjoying the leisure of country life, raising cattle and just being together.

Mom will be remembered for her love and commitment to her family, always putting others before herself. She will also be remembered for her pies, she baked each of us our own favorite pie at Christmas. She never failed to ask about each grandchild and great grandchild, every time she was with one of her children. She raised her 5 children in church, all were baptized and know the Lord, and her job is done.

She is preceded in death by husband, her parents, siblings, Inez, Kat, Marcus and son in laws, Kenny and Mike.

Survivors include daughters, Paula Smith, Kitty Simpson; sons, Larry Smith, Johnny Smith (Linda), Kerry Smith (Karol), grandchildren, Brian Smith, Josh Smith, Becky Smith, Jennifer Anderson, Jeff Smith, Amberlee Murphree, Andrew Smith, Misty Ward, Chad Smith, Eric Smith, Korey Smith, Lauren Smith, Sara Hubertus, Katie Floeck and Zack Simpson; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Claudene (Charles) and special friends Lee and Maggie, many nieces and nephews.

Mom will forever be in our hearts, always knowing she loved us.
