Mildred T. Satterwhite was a daughter of James Satterwhite and Mildred Wyche of Elbert County, GA. She married John Henry White, son of Shelton White and Mildred Terrell Clark in 1826 at Elbert County, Georgia. She and her husband moved with others from Georgia to Panola County, Mississippi in the early 1830s where Mildred's first husband died in 1839. She married Fleming Littlefield, a plantation overseer, on September 16, 1841, in Mississippi. Because of "bad blood" between Littlefield and some of Mildred's wealthy Georgia relatives, an attempt was made on Littlefield's life in 1850 which led to the family's removal to Gonzales County, Texas. Fleming Littlefield died in 1853, leavining Mildred to run the plantation along with some of her children by her first marriage as well as her Littlefield sons. She continued to live near Belmont, Gonzales County, Texas for the duration of her life.
