Funeral services for J.W. Miller, Sr., for many years prominent in business circles of Pulaski, who died yesterday afternoon at the Elks national home at Bedford following a stroke of paralysis, will be held from the Pulaski Presbyterian church Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery with the Pulaski Elks Lodge in charge of the service at the grave. Mr. Miller organized the Peoples National Bank, of Pulaski, in 1902 and became it's first cashier. Later he served as president of the institution and was honored with the presidency of the Virginia Bankers' association. Retiring from the banking field, Mr. Miller was engaged in contracting work for some time. He was also connected with the Norfolk and Western railroad. He was the son of William & Isobel Painter Miller and spent much of his lifetime in this section. He is survived by his wife, now residing in Baltimore; a son, Leicester Miller, of Roanoke, and a daughter, Miss Isobel Miller, of Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Kable, of Charlottesville, VA. Members of the Pulaski Elks lodge have been requested to meet at the lodge rooms Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock to attend the services in a body.
