Capt. Enoch Weather, 79, father of James H. Weathers, of the Marengo Observer, died at the residence of his daughter, Laura Mary Odle, in Indianapolis, on July 26, 1899.
He was born on leap year February 29, 1820, in Crawford County to Richard & Chloe Jane Jones Weathers.
He married Rachel R. Real Stewart, daughter of Michael & Rachel Real and widow of James Stewart, at Marengo, Indiana, on December 7, 1837.
Born to them were a daughter, Laura Mary Girdner-Odle and three sons, Andrew Enoch, John Richard and James Henry Weathers, all of whom survived him.
There were two step-sons, David Michael and Eli Clark Stewart, and a step-daughter, Mary Ann Moore.
His wife, Rachel, preceded him in death on August 27, 1887.
