Daughter of Donald and Becky Helms Rowell. Dawn married Bill Monroe on August 27, 1967.

SOUTHERN PINES - Dawn Monroe of Southern Pines died on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at NC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill following a short illness with leukemia.

Mrs. Monroe grew up in Charlotte, where she attended East Mecklenburg High School. She will always be remembered for her wonderful personality and her love for animals. She had a quick wit and a good sense of humor and lived life to the fullest. She had great faith in God and was a loving mother and wife.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Bill Monroe; a son, Donald A. Monroe of Charlotte; her father, Donald Rowell of Marion, SC; a sister, Elizabeth Kaye Killough of Fort Mill, SC; and 1 granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Ron Dietrich officiating.
