Kentucky State Police confirm three people are dead after shots were fired inside a Montgomery County mobile home Monday morning. Neighbors say a man killed his pregnant ex-wife and her new boyfriend. The gunman is also among the dead.

The shooting was at 30-year old Amy Davis' home on Lower Spruce Road in Jeffersonville. Davis' father says his daughter had just finalized her divorce from Anthany Patterson, and reverted to her maiden name. She was 7-months pregnant with her boyfriend, William Cain's child.

Patterson and Davis have three adopted children, ages four to 12. The children were in the home at the time of the shooting. Lisa Henderson, neighbor who is also family to Amy Davis, says the children ran to her home. She says she grabbed them and got them into her home, and heard the gunshots.

Police say Patterson shot William Cain in the home. Amy Davis was found dead outside her home. Neighbors say Patterson then began shooting at police when they arrived. Police say they returned fire but are not sure if one of their bullets killed Patterson or if he turned the gun on himself. An autopsy is being conducted on Patterson.

Davis had recently taken out an Emergency Protective Order against Patterson.

The family of Amy Davis says that Patterson left a note with his family telling what he planned to do. His family says they didn't know about this note until after the shooting, and it explains the situation and why he planned to do what he did.

Kentucky State Police are still investigating this shooting.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Autopsies are scheduled for a woman and two men killed in what police described as a double murder-suicide in eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Ralph Lockard says the medical examinations were set to begin Tuesday on 44-year-old Anthony "Tony" Patterson, his ex-wife, 29-year-old Amy Davis and Davis' fiance, 30-year-old William Cain of Morehead.

All three were killed early Monday at Davis' trailer in Jeffersonville in Montgomery County, about 45 miles east of Lexington.

Lockard said Patterson appears to have broken into Davis' trailer, shot his ex-wife, then Cain before turning the gun on himself. Montgomery County Coroner Wally Johnson told the Lexington Herald-Leader that Davis was pregnant.

Lockard said police are trying to determine a motive for the shootings.
