Rowland E. "Bud" Alsid December 15, 2003
Rowland E. "Bud" Alsid , 64, of Liverpool, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Catskill, Mr. Alsid lived most of his life in North Syracuse before moving to Liverpool three years ago. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Alsid was involved in banking for many years. He was employed as Vice President of Government Banking with J.P. Morgan Chase for the past fifteen years.
Active in local politics, Mr. Alsid had previously served as Village of North Syracuse Trustee, Village Treasurer, Town of Clay Councilman and was currently Chairman of the Town of Clay Grievance Committee. He was a past member of the North Syracuse Kiawanis Little League and the North Syracuse Optimist Club. An avid golfer, he also was a member of Arrowhead Golf Club.
Mrs. Dorothy Hungerford, his mother, died in June and Rowland Alsid , his father, was a WWII casualty.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Holly Haag; one daughter, Sandy and her husband, Reggie White of Cicero; two sons, Michael and his wife, Erin of Liverpool and Bill of North Syracuse and six grandchildren, Andrew, Shannon and Mitchell White of Cicero, Michael, Alexandra and Sam Alsid of Liverpool. Also surviving are two sisters, Patty Alsid Thompson and her husband, Gerald of Brunswick, NY and Glenda Hungerford of Barrington, NH; two aunts, Dorothy Ennis of Delmar, NY and Elizabeth Brown of Utica, NY; his mother-in-law, Marion Perry of Liverpool; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call today at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse, from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to Onondaga Community Living, 518 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13203
