He was born in Mt. Carmel, Prince Edward Island, Canada and had been a longtime resident of Andover. Mr. Gallant was a retired employee of the Tyer Rubber Company of Andover, and had attended St. Augustine's Church.
The widower of Jacqueline "Lena" (Gaudet) Gallant, he is survived by four sons, Reginald, Francis, Roland and Clarence Gallant; two daughters, Eleanor, wife of Donald May, and Mary, wife of Roland Deschenes; two brothers, Theodore Gallant and Albert Gallant; a sister, Mrs. Madeline Gallant; 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was offered the following Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church.
Services were offered by M. A. Burke Memorial Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street in Andover.
