Vernon Duvall Jones, age 86, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Oct. 20 at the Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Marah Nell Jones of Bogalusa; a daughter, Susan Jones (Gary) Bothe of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Vernon Edward "Robbie" Jones of Livingston Parish and Farrell Wilson Jones of Baton Rouge; and three grandchildren: Alexander Jacob Jones, Eli Bothe and Leah Bothe.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thoal Jones and Jasper Jones.
Visitation will be held on today at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral services at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bob Adams will officiate, with interment to follow at Ellis Cemetery in Franklinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: First Baptist Church, 541 Avenue F, Bogalusa, LA 70427 or to the charity of your choice.
