Mary Ann was born about 1845, the eldest of seven children of Joseph Masterson and Julia Williams Masterson, and the only one to have been born in the Old Country. The family moved to Lambertville, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey in 1861.
She wed John McNulty. They had four children: Mary Jane in 1864, Julia in 1865, John A. in 1867 and Bridget in 1868. Mary Jane died young.
Mary Ann lived in Lambertville until a year before her death, when she was living in Philadelphia.
