He served his country in the US Army attaining the rank of technical sergeant of the 25th Signal Company & was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon & the Army of Occupation Medal.
He married Ruth Darlene Arthur 26 Aug 1949 in Kansas City, Mo.
He spent 40 years farming & was the 4th generation to farm the family farm in Cherokee county. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs, Farmer's Co-op, rural water board, & Farm Bureau.
Survivors include daughter Dana Lynch, sons Gary & David, foster son Fred Emmett, brothers Harold & Eugene, five grandchildren & two great grandchildren.
