Dorothy Maxine (Fry) Allsup, lifelong Owasso resident, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, in the Sequoyah East Nursing Center in Roland at the age of 92. Dorothy was born Sept. 24, 1919 in Owasso to Youal and Madge (Bennett) Fry. She was raised in Owasso, and she was an Owasso High School graduate. On Aug. 1, 1939, Dorothy and John W. "Bill" Allsup were united in marriage in Pawhuska. To this union, three children were born. Dorothy was a longtime employee of the City of Owasso, working as a clerk in the water department. She loved the outdoors, and she especially enjoyed camping and fishing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill, in July 1999; two sisters and six brothers. Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her children, David Allsup and wife, Shirley, of Collinsville, Lynn Allsup and wife, Carol, of Muldrow, and Mary Roberts, of Stillwell; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and sisters, Judy Tumleson and Doris Brumfield, both of Owasso. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Funeral services for Dorothy begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel,with Rev. Chris Tiger officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Owasso.
Casket bearers are Wayne Fry, Jack Bailey, Wes Fry, Richard Willis, Tom Allsup and Carl Worley. Honorary bearers are Thomas Allsup, Robert "Bill" Allsup, James Allsup, Erick Roberts, Rick Dossett and Larry Worley.
