He was born May 13, 1943, in Waldo, Ky., a son of the late George Blanton and Virgie Miller Blanton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an auto mechanic and farmer. He loved horses and loved to ride them.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, George Blanton Jr.; and two sisters, Dora Balcom and Eva Bailey.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela Truitt Blanton of Greenup; two daughters, Dr. Julie Karnes of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Mickey Blanton of Greenup; five brothers, Gene Blanton and Eddie Blanton, both of Greenup, Charles Blanton of Cold Water, Mich., Paul David Blanton of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Victor Blanton of Union City, Mich.; three sisters, Nora Patton of Lima, Ohio, Carol Gardner of Cold Water and Joyce Hawkins of Portsmouth, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Elder Ezra Burton officiating. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Greenup.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
