Harry John Light 64 of Erie, Kansas, died Saturday Dec. 30, 2000 at his nephew's home in Erie after a long battle with cancer. He was born June 8, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Jesse Martin Light and Dollie Grace Schwartz Light.
He grew up and attended school in Pea Ridge, Ark. While still in high school, he joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict. After serving several years, he was presented with an honorable discharge because of medical reasons. He moved back to the Arkansas area, where he was employed as a roofer and a construction worker for many years. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Dollie Light; and two brothers Gene Light and Jim Light.
Survivors include a daughter Teresa Day of Rogers, Ark. a brother Richard Light of Grove Ok., three sisters Juanita Meeks of Rogers, Ruth Ferhenback of Tulsa Ok., and Shirley Thompson of Siloam Springs, Ar. and a nephew and niece, Jessie Light and Paula Light of Erie, who cared for him during his illness.
A private burial service for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
Burial will ba at the Pea Ridge Cemetery in Pea Ridge, Ark.
Cremation arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home of Welch, Okla.
