Grace Kelderman, (91) of the Western Home, Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Janesville and Waverly, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Grace was born on December 1, 1921, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Jeanette (Schortinghuis) Aardema. Grace attended and graduated from the Sioux Center High School. On February 22, 1943, Grace was united in marriage to Albert D. Kelderman in Doon, Iowa. The couple farmed most of their married life before moving to Janesville, Iowa in 1973. Grace was a homemaker and worked at the Colony Inn in Amana, Iowa. Albert died on April 3, 1992, and Grace continued to live in Janesville until moving to Waverly in 1996 and then to Cedar Falls in October of 2011.
Grace was a longtime member of the Cedar Falls Christian Reformed Church, and more recently of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly. Grace loved music and could play organ, piano, guitar and harmonica. She also loved to sing, and participated with church services. She had a great love for animals, especially cats. Grace loved flowers and enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend; and will be greatly missed.
Grace is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Allen) Seiler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Diana (Dan) Thorn of Marshalltown, and Cheryl (Les) Richardson Allison, Iowa; two sons, Ron (Laverne) Kelderman of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Curtis (Abby) Kelderman of Waverly, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Aardema of Hull, Iowa. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Jeanette; her husband, Albert in 1992; her brother, Charles; a son, Kenneth; one great grandson, Luke Kelderman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:30 am at Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly, with Pastor John Brockschink officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Janesville. Public visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to either Heritage United Methodist Church or to the Western Home Communities.
