VERNON, Ala. – Thomas Glover "T.G." Freeman, 93, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Care Center of Vernon, Ala. He was born June 24, 1916, in Caledonia to Erwyn Julious and Ollie Henderson Freeman. He graduated as valedictorian from Artesia High School. He attended Holmes Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi on full football scholarships. He received his bachelor of science degree in history education from USM and a master of science degree in school administration from Mississippi State University. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 115th Field Artillery Battalion. Through the years he was a school teacher, coach, principal and administrator in schools in Aberdeen and Caledonia. He was a member of Caledonia United Methodist Church. He was a business owner and an avid farmer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus. The Rev. Ben Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia.

Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Robinson (Wayne) of Vernon, Ala., Nancy Breaux (Frank) of Saltillo, Patty Barron of Hoover, Ala., and Judy Fulgham (Curtis) of Starkville; two sisters, Addie Friedman of Greenfield, Ohio, and Claydeen Allen of Amory; one brother, Bradford Freeman of Caledonia; eight grandchildren, Matt Breaux, David Breaux, Will Breaux, Danielle Passmore (Jason), Jon Barron, Kasey Fulgham, Rachel Eubanks (Brandon), Sarah Hughes (Scott); and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladis Myers Freeman; his parents; a sister, Jewel Brown; and three brothers, Earl, Hurd and Carey Freeman.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Care Center of Vernon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
