Edna, age 93, of Watertown, died on Thursday at Golden LivingCenter. She was born the daughter of Albert & Amanda (Wenndt) Kruckenberg.
She married Paul H. Groenke on June 27, 1940, in Delavan. Edna was a 1934 graduate of East Commerce High School in Detroit, Mich.
She had been a secretary with the social services department at Bethesda Lutheran Home for 25 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown and had been treasurer of the church for 21 years. She was a member of the Women of Good Shepherd, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Friends of Concordia. She was also a Lutheran school teacher for a few years.
Surviving are a daughter, a grandson, three stepgrandsons, two stepgreat-grandchildren, also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, on July 25, 1966; a brother; and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. David K. Groth and the Rev. Victor Tegtmeier officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Co. Lutheran High School or Concordia University. Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown assisted the family.
