She was 27 years 4 months old leaving behind her husband and her babies: her daughter was only 1 year 8 months old and her son just over 8 months old. Gertrude's children were raised in Corry, Pennsylvania by Hattie and Benjamin Marsh, her husband's parents. Her sister, Mrs. O. Carlson, of Elgin, Pennsylvania was the informant on Gertrude’s death certificate.
Gertrude was buried January 5, 1931 in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry, Pennsylvania. Her husband, Harold Lloyd Marsh, born September 3, 1900, died March 8, 1955 and lies buried in Long Island National Cemetery.
Their daughter, Norma Jean Marsh, married Robert Watrous on May 11, 1950, Norma Jean’s 21st birthday. Their union was blessed with two daughters and five grandchildren. A portion of an obituary from January 20, 2008 is said to state that Norma Jean’s husband Robert Watrous was the son of Harris and Ines Young Watrous and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.
